How Canada rebates usually work

Check the program first, then buy the right equipment.

Canadian EV charger programs are province and utility specific. Most require eligible equipment, proof of purchase, proof of installation, and a customer account in the right service territory.

  1. Step 01

    Enter your postal code

Use the finder above to match your province and see whether the best current path is a Smart Splitter rebate, Level 2 charger rebate, rate plan, rewards program, or multi-unit building program.

  2. Step 02

    Confirm equipment eligibility

Before buying, confirm the exact product category. In BC, a Smart Splitter can fit the EV power management device path, while wall chargers use a different eligible-equipment list.

  3. Step 03

    Keep every receipt

Most applications ask for proof of purchase, installation details, utility account information, and photos or serial numbers for the installed equipment.

  4. Step 04

Submit to the utility or province

Apply through the official program site. Some programs pay as a utility bill credit; others pay as a grant or rebate after the application is approved.
