BC Hydro offers a $200 rebate for eligible single-family home customers who install an eligible EV power management device with an eligible Level 2 EV charger. The device controls the EV charging load and can help avoid the need for an electrical service upgrade.

Canadian EV charger programs are province and utility specific. Most require eligible equipment, proof of purchase, proof of installation, and a customer account in the right service territory.

Before buying, confirm the exact product category. In BC, a Smart Splitter can fit the EV power management device path, while wall chargers use a different eligible-equipment list.
Most applications ask for proof of purchase, installation details, utility account information, and photos or serial numbers for the installed equipment.
Apply through the official program site. Some programs pay as a utility bill credit; others pay as a grant or rebate after the application is approved.

The strongest current Smart Splitter fit is British Columbia. BC Hydro has a separate EV power management device rebate path, and Smart Splitter customers should check that path before purchasing. Other provinces may have charger, rate-plan, or rewards programs, but they may not treat load-management devices the same way.
Potentially, but the categories matter. BC programs distinguish between EV power management devices and eligible Level 2 charging stations. Confirm the current BC Hydro or FortisBC rules for your equipment mix before assuming the total rebate.
Quebec's Ecorecharge program offers a home charging station grant for eligible EV owners. The program requires an eligible charging station and, from April 1, 2026, connected charging stations are required for financial assistance.
We are not currently showing an active Ontario-wide homeowner EV charger purchase or installation rebate. Ontario customers should still check ultra-low overnight electricity rates and local managed-charging pilots, because those can reduce charging costs even when there is no hardware rebate.
Multi-unit buildings usually have different programs than single-family homes. BC EV Ready and Quebec multi-dwelling Ecorecharge paths can support planning, electrical infrastructure, and charger installation at the building level.
Some provinces currently have no active homeowner charger installation rebate loaded in our guide. That does not mean there are no savings at all: check your local utility, time-of-use rates, managed charging pilots, and any city or building-specific programs.
