NeoCharge Power+ FAQs
Here are some of the most common user questions related to NeoCharge's utility integration
What are grid events?
During times of high demand, the electric grid can become strained. In extreme scenarios, this can actually lead to brownouts or blackouts. These events allow people with connected devices, like NeoCharge users, to help lessen stress on the grid by making small changes to your charging when demand is the highest.
How do I enroll with Power+?
In your NeoCharge app, press the settings icon in the top right of the Home screen. Go to "Connect Utility" and proceed by logging in with your utility.
Will this be very disruptive to my charging schedule?
No - we’ll make sure that your EV is still charged at the right amount when you need it. By optimizing your charging with us, we’re helping you charge at the best times and enabling you to support the grid in your community.
If you need to, you can always override any charging schedules and start charging right away.
Are Con Ed, O&R, or PSEG Long Island utility customers eligible?
Yes. NeoCharge currently has utility integrations with select utilities in California and New York.
The NeoCharge Power+ program integrates with Con Ed, O&R, or PSEG Long Island utility accounts in New York.
If you are not serviced by one of these utilities, you can still set charging schedules through the NeoCharge app, but you will not be able to participate in grid events.
What's the benefit to NeoCharge?
We work with electric utilities to optimize home energy usage and support the grid. By responding to grid signals and shifting energy usage away from peak times, we help:
- Prevent blackouts
- Reduce grid strain during peak hours
- Decrease CO2 emissions
- Eliminate the need for coal-powered power plants
This partnership with utilities allows us to offer these optimization features while keeping charging costs low.
