NEMA 10-50 Adapter FAQ
Everything you need to know about using a 10-50 outlet for EV charging.
Will this NEMA 10-50 adapter work with my EV charger?
Yes — this adapter works with any Level 2 EV charger that uses a NEMA 14-50 plug, allowing you to use your existing 10-50 outlet (common in older homes for electric stoves and dryers) without rewiring. Compatible with Tesla Mobile Connector, Wallbox, Autel, ChargePoint, JuiceBox, Grizzl-E, Lectron, and most other Level 2 chargers.
Is the NEMA 10-50 adapter safe to use?
Yes. The adapter is built to UL standards with the same heavy-duty 50A copper wiring used in commercial installs. It includes proper grounding and is rated for continuous EV charging loads. Always follow your charger's manual for outlet and circuit requirements.
Should I get the Smart Splitter instead?
If you want to share your existing 240V outlet between an EV and another appliance (like a dryer or electric range), the NeoCharge Smart Splitter is the better choice — it auto-switches power between two devices and qualifies for utility rebates. The 10-50 adapter is for cases where you have a dedicated 10-50 outlet you want to use for EV charging only.
What's the difference between NEMA 10-50 and 14-50?
NEMA 14-50 is the modern 4-wire 240V outlet (hot, hot, neutral, ground) found in most newer homes and commonly used for EV charging and electric ranges. NEMA 10-50 is the older 3-wire version (hot, hot, neutral) without a dedicated ground — common in homes built before the 1996 NEC update. This adapter lets you use the 14-50 plug on your EV charger with an older 10-50 outlet safely.
Does this come with a warranty?
Yes — every adapter comes with a 1-year warranty and a 30-day money-back guarantee. If it doesn't work out, return it for a full refund.
