Before you buy
How fast will my car charge? Full speed for your outlet: up to 24 A (5.7 kW) on a 30 A dryer outlet, 40 A (9.6 kW) on a 50 A outlet.
That's about 20 miles of range per hour on a dryer outlet, enough to refill a typical day of driving overnight. 24 A is the safe limit for a 30 A breaker, so any charger on that outlet charges at that speed. Most cars let you set it on the screen or in their app.
What will my electrician ask? Usually nothing. It plugs into the outlet you already have: no new circuit, no panel work.
If anyone asks: it's cUL Listed and NEC compliant, and it switches power between the two plugs so the circuit is never overloaded. It's for indoor use, and the outlet should be in good shape. A loose or scorched outlet gets replaced first.
What's in the box? The Smart Splitter, a wall bracket with screws, and your charger adapter if your setup needs one.
The bracket lines up with the gold mounting points and comes with two thumb screws and two panhead screws. If your outlet sits too close to the floor or a corner, a larger 2.5″ bracket is available separately.
Does it need Wi-Fi? No. Switching between the two plugs works with no Wi-Fi at all.
Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz) only adds the free app: energy and cost tracking, and an on/off schedule for the second plug.
