Charger FAQ
Before you plug in
Outlets, installation, charging speed and rebates: the questions we hear most from people buying this charger.
What outlet does this charger plug into?
A NEMA 14-50: the 4-prong 240V outlet used for ranges and RVs, on its own 50A circuit. Set the charger to 40A there: that’s 9.6 kW, the most a 50A circuit allows for all-night charging.
Can I plug it into my dryer outlet?
Not by itself. A dryer outlet sits on a 30A circuit the dryer also needs. A NeoCharge Smart Splitter plugs into that outlet, gives the dryer and this charger each a plug, and switches power between them: the car charges whenever the dryer isn’t running. Before you plug in, set the charger to 24A (5.7 kW) in the charger’s settings or on your car: that’s the safe limit for a 30A circuit.
Get the Smart Splitter that matches your outlet, with the 14-50 adapter this charger plugs into: NEMA 14-30 (4-prong) or NEMA 10-30 (older 3-prong).
Do I need an electrician to install it?
Not if you already have a NEMA 14-50 outlet near your parking spot: mount it and plug it in. Only have a dryer outlet? A Smart Splitter shares it, with no new circuit or panel work. No 240V outlet at all? An electrician adds a 50A circuit; see your install options and rebates above.
How fast will it charge my EV?
At 40A (9.6 kW), about 30 miles of range per hour, so a typical daily drive refills overnight. Through a Smart Splitter on a dryer outlet, set to 24A (5.7 kW), about 20 miles per hour. Your car can cap that too: an EV with a 7.2 kW onboard charger tops out at 7.2 kW on any charger.
Can two EVs share one 14-50 outlet?
Yes, with a NEMA 14-50 Smart Splitter. Both cars plug into the one outlet and charge in turn, or at the same time with each limited to 20A or less, so you don’t need a second circuit.
Does it work with the NeoCharge app?
Through a Smart Splitter. Plug the EVIQO into one, and the app turns charging on in your cheapest hours and shows what every charge costs. It also connects to compatible EVs directly, and to Wallbox and Autel chargers. See the app.
Is there a rebate or tax credit for this charger?
Many utilities pay toward the charger, its installation, or a Smart Splitter. Enter your ZIP in the rebate check above to see every program this exact charger qualifies for. The federal 30C credit ended for charging equipment placed in service after June 30, 2026; if yours was installed on or before that date, ask a tax professional about Form 8911.
